Families with Stable Homes
FAMILIES EXPERIENCING POVERTY OFTEN DEAL WITH UNSTABLE HOUSING, WHICH CAN LEAD TO ISOLATION AND NO SUPPORT NETWORK. THROUGH A STAFFED LIVE-IN FACILITY, LIVING IN PEACE PROVIDES A SAFE SPACE FOR FAMILIES TO CONNECT WITH ONE ANOTHER AND OPPORTUNITIES TO ESTABLISH MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS IN THE COMMUNITY
The risk of homelessness is highest among households headed by single women and families with children under the age of six.
Families experiencing poverty are often socially isolated, lacking a support network and unable to participate in the community. Socially isolated individuals are more likely to be in poverty than those with larger circles of friends. Social isolation can lead to missed economic opportunity, and poverty often means that social resources are inaccessible.
The Need:
We believe that when families experience stability, they can grow meaningful connections, enabling them to rise out of poverty, build a network of support, and ultimately transform into thriving members of the community.
Living in Peace works to reduce social isolation and increase economic and networking opportunities by
- Providing a safe and stable environment to connect with other families in our live-in facility
- Helping families build a support system, connecting them with relevant resources in the community
