Healthy Lifestyles

POVERTY OFTEN DEPLETES ALL AREAS OF ONE'S WELLNESS: PHYSICAL, SOCIAL, MENTAL, FINANCIAL, AND SPIRITUAL. AT ITS FACILITY, LIVING IN PEACE ADDRESSES ALL ASPECTS OF WELLNESS, PROVIDING FOR THE MOST BASIC AND IMMEDIATE NEEDS TO CREATE AND EXPERIENCE A LIFE OF HOLISTIC WELLNESS

The Need:

The Hope:

The average life expectancy for those experiencing homelessness is 25 years less than those in stable housing. Poverty is both a cause and a consequence of poor physical and mental health.

Poverty increases the chances of poor health, and poor health traps people in poverty. Without regular access to healthcare and stable housing, those experiencing homelessness suffer from higher rates of preventable illness and have longer hospitalizations.

People living in poverty lack financial resources to maintain basic living standards, have fewer educational and employment opportunities, are exposed to adverse living environments, and are less able to access quality healthcare and adequate nutrition. These stressful living conditions place people at higher risk for poor levels of overall wellness.

We believe that the vicious cycle of poor wellness and poverty can be broken. At its facility, Living in Peace works to break the cycle of poverty and poor personal health by
